JOB OVERVIEW The Senior Paralegal position is a Team Leader role. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Paralegal team with the support of the Service Manager. The role will involve drafting fee earning work, managerial duties and process management, with a focus on drafting legal documents for the firm and its clients. The Team Leader will deal directly with clients and be accustomed to running their own caseload, generating correspondence and using IT systems effectively. MAIN DUTIES Assisting and supporting the Service Manager Managing team workloads and own files Drafting legal and transactional documents for the firm and its clients Dealing with correspondence and telephone calls with clients, other solicitors and third parties Support the Service Manager with recruitment into the team Updating team precedents where appropriate Participating in business development initiatives if required by the Service Manager or Centralised Services Manager. EXPERIENCE At least five years recent experience of working as a qualified fee earner within a legal environment Accustomed to working without close supervision Accustomed to dealing with clients, partners and fee earners at all levels QUALIFICATIONS High level of IT literacy - able to generate own correspondence and able to move confidently around an integrated office suite and move information between different systems Completed or currently studying CILEx or similar legal qualifications; or equivalent experience desirable KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS A high level of understanding of residential property transactions and procedures "Hands-on" experience of computerised conveyancing methods / high level of IT competence Excellent communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written Professional, hard-working, self-motivated and commercially aware Methodical, accurate and well-organised Flexible, innovative attitude - a true team player ABILITY TO MEET SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS The highest level of client care and awareness Prepared to work on own but carry out whatever duties are required by other team members Willingness and ability to abandon traditional working practices and to adapt to innovative methods of meeting client needs based on IT systems.
